Saying Goodbye
To let go of my tobacco is to say goodbye to a dear friend,
who has been with me since I was nine years old.
I grieve the loss of you my constant companion even as I welcome the new freedom that represents to me.
I honour and respect you and
thank you for getting me this far.
I sprinkle some tobacco on the ceremonial ground
as a symbol of returning the medicine back
to the natural world.
