Our History

The Tobacco Healing Centre in conjunction with Patient Support International offers a ‘state of the art and science’ program for the effective treatment of tobacco addiction.

Residential treatment programs are delivered both in-house and in the field by a fully integrated world-class therapeutic team of highly experienced and respected counselors.

This professional addiction healing group has also developed in conjunction with the University of Florida’s, College of Medicine the NAADAC Tobacco Addiction Specialist Certification Course for membership in the Association of Addiction Professionals. In 2004 the Certification Course became the Canadian Standard credentialed by the Canadian Addiction counselors Certification Federation, CACCF.

Background
These combined programs have been perfected through years of practice and research beginning in 1989 with the founding of the first Smokers Treatment Center in Ottawa, Canada. Over the course of nine years many hundreds of smokers were given the opportunity to break free from their addiction to tobacco and the body of knowledge regarding the most effective treatment protocols were advanced considerably. This was an outpatient program with weekend residential detoxification options.

Over 300 therapeutic instruments were developed and tested in real time, real life situations with outstanding results. The first formal independent study was conducted in 1995-96 by the Queens University Field Research group led by Dr. Dr. Caroline Weber, of the School of Industrial Relations. At the end of the two year study the group reported an 87% recovery rate.

Service Offering
Currently the treatment and training teams are offering a 7 and 10-Day Intensive Treatment experience for the tobacco addicted person who has some trouble in putting tobacco behind them.

The Certification Training Course can be delivered in conjunction with or separately as the need arises.
